Cordele blood drive slated for Tuesday

The Cordele Rotary Club is sponsoring a blood drive on Tuesday, October 9 for the American Red Cross. The blood drive will be held at the Cordele Community Clubhouse on 108 East 15th Avenue from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Extensive flooding in North Carolina caused by Hurricane Florence has resulted in the cancellation of more than 50 blood drives in that state, according to Jack Windham.

That leaves the Red Cross short on donor blood across the nation.

Blood donors at Tuesday’s Red Cross drive will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate provided by the Rotary Club. For more information about the American Red Cross and blood donations, visit redcrossblood.org, where supporters can also download the blood donor app.

Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood. A donation of a single pint of blood can save up to three lives.
