HAWKINSVILLE— The Dooly County Bobcats knocked off Hawkinsville (2-4) 32-6 this past Friday night to even up their overall record at 3-3 on the season.

Dooly quarterback, Bo Lawson, put in another big offensive performance to lead the Bobcats to the win. Lawson accounted for 297 total yards and four total touchdowns in the contest. He completed six out of 14 passes for 109 yards and three touchdowns, ran six times for 104 yards and a touchdown, returned a kickoff for 55 yards and also had one catch for 29 yards on a pass from Reggie Smith.

Malik McGhee and Shamon Zanders were both also big contributors on offense for the Bobcats in the win over Hawkinsville. McGhee finished the game with seven rushes for 83 yards and one touchdown, and he also caught a pass for a 39-yard touchdown. Zanders caught two passes, both resulting in touchdowns, for a total of 45 yards. Freshman kicker Osbel Vazquez was two for four on extra points on the night.

Javarese Black put in another big performance to lead the Bobcat defense on the night, finishing with 21 total tackles (5 solo, 16 assists). Malik Burns also finished the night with double-digit stops with 12 total, including two for a loss of yards and a forced fumble. Ra’qavious Billings had eight tackles on the night (two for a loss) and was credited with a blocked field goal as well. Other contributors on the Dooly defense were: Zepha Hill – six tackles, Rashsad Lucas – five tackles, Jaboris Hicks – four tackles, Justin Johnson – four tackles, Jeff Felton – four tackles, Tatravian Haughabrook – four tackles, and David Grant – fumble recovery and one tackle for a loss.

The win over Hawkinsville moved the Bobcats to 3-3 on the season and 2-1 so far in region play. The GHSA class A power rankings now have the Bobcats at number 15 after Friday’s games.

Up next for the Bobcats is a home region game against the Crawford County Eagles (2-4 overall, 0-3 in region). The Eagles will enter Friday night’s game hoping to snap a three-game losing streak that has come against Hawkinsville, Taylor County and Macon County. Dooly won last season’s matchup between the two schools by a score of 56-18.

The Bobcats will be looking to make it three wins in a row as they continue to climb the region standings and rankings in hopes of solidifying a decent playoff spot for the postseason. Kickoff was supposed to be Friday night in Vienna at 7:30 p.m., but the hurricane has forced the school to be closed on Friday and the game to be moved according to Dooly County School officials. Kickoff time will be confirmed on this article as soon as the information is made available.
