Less than two weeks after Hurricane Michael plowed through southwest Georgia, Crisp County Power Commission linesmen have restored electricity to almost every customer.

A small number of scattered customers remain without power, but, according to a recent statement from CCPC General Manager Steve Rentfrow, those outages are likely due to individual problems like damaged equipment instead of downed lines.

“We completely inspected and restored all customers on 11 of our 27 circuits with the intent of looking for problems and restoring all remaining customers on each circuit. Our goal is to have all customers restored by end of day Monday,” Rentfrow said Sunday afternoon.

“The only exception will be those who need to repair damage to their own equipment and a number of security lights with broken lines or poles. After all customers are energized we will still have a significant amount of debris removal and cleanup to do. We hope to largely be back to normal by the end of next week,” Rentfrow continued.

“We want to thank our customers for their patience and understanding through this unprecedented event and we also wish to thank the numerous individuals and organizations who have helped with food and other assistance for our employees and all the outside workers who have been in our community,” he said. “And we especially want to thank the Crisp County Power Commission Linemen and all the linemen from other areas who have worked so diligently through the recovery effort.”
