CAMILLA— The Crisp Academy football team finished the regular season portion of their schedule with a 19-14 defeat at the hands of the Westwood Wildcats (2-8).

Westwood scored the first points of the game early in the second quarter with a 20-yard touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead.

Crisp punted on their next drive, but Westwood subsequently turned the ball over as Dylan Farmer pulled in an interception.

Crisp scored their first points of the night shortly after on a four-yard run from Griffin Gravitt. Gravitt had thrown a long pass to Farmer earlier on the drive to set up the short touchdown. CA tacked on the two-point conversion for an 8-7 lead late in the first half.

The teams swapped a few punts back and forth for the last couple of minutes of the first half, so CA led 8-7 at the break.

The two teams traded a couple of turnovers to start the second half, and Westwood retook the lead later in the third period on a short touchdown run. The extra point try was no good, leaving the score at 13-8 in favor of the hosts.

Both defenses forced punts over the next few drives and Crisp grabbed the lead again a little over halfway through the fourth quarter.

Gravitt threw a pass to Farmer that resulted in a 55-yard touchdown to put CA back in front. The two-point try was unsuccessful but CA led 14-13 with roughly five minutes to go in the contest.

Westwood drove right back down the field and punched in another short touchdown run for a 19-13 lead with just a couple of minutes to go in the contest.

The Wildcats started near their own 40-yard line on the ensuing drive, and a long run by Baylor Pless got Crisp down to the Westwood 30, but the Westwood defense sealed the game with an interception with less than a minute to go.

Crisp Academy finished the regular season schedule with a 4-6 overall record with the loss to Westwood.

Crisp will next play in the GISA class A semifinals as the three seed on the road at the second seed the Thomas Jefferson Academy Jaguars.

The Jaguars have five wins, four losses, and one tie on the season. One of those five wins was an 18-16 victory over the Wildcats in Louisville on September 14.

The Wildcats led in that game 16-6 at halftime before a second half comeback by Thomas Jefferson saw the Jaguars just hold on for the win late.

The winner of the contest will be playing for the GISA class A state title on November 30.
