William Alfred Penn, 92, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Benefield Penn; son, Lee Penn; and a brother and sister, Leon Penn and Geneva Simmons.  He was born in Crisp County and was the son of the late John Benjamin Penn and Mary Lou Presley Penn.  A veteran of the United States Air Force, William was a bookkeeper for Penn Trucking Company. He is survived by his children, a son and his wife, Benny and Debbie Penn of Appling and a daughter, Becky P. Stephens of Cordele; seven grandchildren, Jason Conner, Robbie Phillips, Will Phillips, Deena Stephens, Dean Stephens, Jennifer Bell and Lee Brian Penn; seven great-grandchildren, McKinsey Stephens, Katie Lynn Conner, Katelyn Penn, Forrest Phillips, Morris Anthony Abella, Harrison Bell and Payton Bell; and a brother, Raymond Penn of Athens. In keeping with William’s wishes, there will be no service held. Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
