CORDELE – Funeral services for David Harold “Pap” McKinsey, 71, were in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018. President Matt Pearce officiated the services. Sam Ryan, pianist played “What A Wonderful World” and Sister Beth Pearce, pianist, played “How Great Thou Art.” Opening prayer was given by Elder Richard Thigpen and remarks by Darlene York. Others from the congregation also offer their remarks. The service closed with the congregational singing of “I Am a Child of God” and a closing prayer by President Pearce. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery with the Dedication of the Grave by Elder Ron Guynn and closing prayer by President Pearce.

Mr. McKinsey died Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at Crisp Regional Hospital. He was born in Vienna, Ga. to the late Isaac Newton McKinsey and late Ella Christine Grantham McKinsey. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Ella Jean McKinsey, his siblings: Emma Lang, Mary Marsh, Robert McKinsey and Alvin McKinsey.

David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as an Elder in the Church.  He had also served as the Melchizedek Priesthood Leader of the Cordele Branch. David was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a hardworking self-employed logger providing for his family, all of which he loved very much.

He is survived by his former wife: Darlene York of Cordele; his children: Stephen (Felicia) McKinsey, Geneva Turner, Patricia McKinsey, Julie (William) Holman and Sam (Erica) York all of Cordele; his grandchildren: Racheal (Sam) Ryan, Ruben David (Katy) Lamb, Rosa Lamb, Rosalyn Christine Fullington and Lisa Marie Fullington; his siblings: Isaac “Bug” McKinsey of Vienna, Ann (Rayburn) Bagwell of Cordele, Annie Jane “Duck” (Billy) Jones of Vienna, Susie (David) Calhoun of Cordele, Penny (Jennifer) McKinsey of Vienna, Barbara Jo (Skeebo) Hutchens of Vienna; and several nieces and nephews.
