Sandra Kay Maddox Downs, 71 of Arabi, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Americus and was the daughter of Verna Faircloth Maddox and the late Oliver Helms Maddox. A homemaker, she was an active member of Bay Spring Baptist Church. She loved the beach and was a lover of the land and always a good steward of it. She loved animals and all the outdoors, especially her flowers and yards. Her biggest passion was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sandra is survived by her husband of 50 years, Billy Wayne Downs of Arabi; her mother, Verna Maddox of Arabi; three daughters, Karen Holmes, Billie Ann Grigg and Lisa Downs, all of Arabi; three grandchildren, Jess Green and her husband, Michael Powell, Nicole Taylor and her husband, Drew, and Dylan Grigg; three great-grandchildren, Annaleigh Green, Cooper Powell and Finley Kate Powell; and two special nieces and their husbands, Babs and Matt Baldwin and their children and Angela and Todd McDonald and their children and grandchildren.
