Friday, January 11

Crisp Academy’s basketball teams played region games at Westwood in Camilla on Friday night. The CA Lady Wildcats fell to the Westwood Lady Wildcats (18-3) by a final score of 78-17. The CA boys’ came away with the road region win in their game against Westwood by a final score of 69-44.

 

Wilcox County High School’s basketball teams both added road region victories against Charlton County on Friday night. The Wilcox Lady Patriots won their game 57-37, while the Patriots defeated Charlton 87-74 in their game.

Wilcox stats from the boys’ contest: Jordan Brown- 22 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and three steals; Demetric Young- 19 points, four rebounds, two steals and a block; Desmond Tisdol- 18 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks; Keyshawn Howard- 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block; Azavion Deans- nine points, five rebounds, four assists, and one block; Jakail Crowder- five points and one assist; Cameron Patterson- four points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal; Christian Freeman- one assist; Logan McSwain- one steal.

 

The Dooly County varsity boys basketball team picked up a road region win over Pacelli on Friday night by a final score of 61-44.

Dooly’s final individual stats from the game were as follows: Zeff Felton- 24 points, 16 rebounds, one steal and three blocks; Rashad Lucas- 11 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one steal; Eric Ivory- nine points, two assists, and five steals; Jeff Felton- eight points, four rebounds, and two assists; Seve Sutton- four points, five rebounds, and one steal; Towandi King- three points and three rebounds; Shamon Zanders- two points, three rebounds, and one assist; Reggie Smith- two rebounds and one steal; Tre Davis- one rebound; Jakari Brown- one assist; Zay Johnson- one rebound.

The Bobcats are 10-5 overall on the season to this point with a 7-2 region record.

 

Fullington Academy’s teams split games at Central Fellowship Christian Academy on Friday. The Fullington Lady Trojans took the win in their game 31-13, while the Trojans were defeated 74-48.

The Lady Trojans are now 3-12 on the season (0-3 in region play), while the Trojans are now 4-9 (1-2 in region).

Fullington is scheduled for road region games at Citizens Christian Academy tomorrow night in Douglas starting at 6 p.m.

 

CCHS wrestlers take fourth in area duals

BLACKSHEAR— The Crisp County High School wrestling team was in action at the area team duals on Friday at Pierce County High School in Blackshear. The Cougars finished in fourth place out of the 12 area teams that participated and four Cougar wrestlers finished the tournament with an unbeaten record to their credit.

The Cougars were defeated in first round action 48-36 against fourth seeded Brantley. Crisp then knocked off Kendrick in second round action 48-42, before falling to Brantley again 42-39 in the third/fourth place match.

Lataince Hayes, Jacob Bearden, Jamal Hoskins, and Ethan Pollock all finished the tournament with a 3-0 record.

Dontavius McCloud and Mark Lewis both finished the tournament with a 2-1 record. Kanarious Woodson and Jackson Atkins also each had a victory at the tournament.

The Cougars were ultimately three points away from qualifying for GHSA state duals held later this week in Macon.

Crisp County’s wrestlers will be in action at the area traditional tournament early next month for a chance to qualify for sectionals.

 

Saturday, January 12

Crisp Academy basketball hosted the Academy for Classical Education for games on Saturday afternoon in Cordele. The Lady Cats fell to ACE by a final score of 37-26, while the Wildcats were victorious in their contest by a final of 67-59.

The Lady Cats fell to 3-10 (0-4 in region) on the season with the defeat, while the Wildcats are now 9-4 so far this season (2-2 in region). CA hosts region opponent Terrell Academy tomorrow night starting at 6:30 p.m.

 

Wilcox County’s teams split region contests at Telfair County on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Patriots were defeated 71-55 by Telfair, while the Patriots picked up a win by the final score of 72-58.

Wilcox stats from the boys’ game: Brown- 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and one steal; Tisdol- 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks; Howard- 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block; Deans- 11 points, nine rebounds, and one assist; Patterson- six points, two rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block; Young- six points, one rebound and one assist; Freeman- two points, two rebounds and one steal.

The Lady Patriots are now 11-6 overall on the season with a 7-3 mark in region competition. The Patriots brought their record to 16-1 overall with a 10-0 region record after the win over Telfair on Saturday.

Wilcox next plays home games against Echols County tomorrow night starting at 6 p.m.
