Monday, Feb. 18

Both of Crisp County High School’s JV teams were in action on Monday, February 18.

The Crisp County JV girls came up short in their game with a 4-0 loss to a tough Thomasville High School JV team.

The Crisp JV Boys battled to a 2-2 tie with Colquitt County’s JV boys on the day. BJ Daniels and Lupe Acevedo each scored a goal for Crisp County in the game.

 

Tuesday, Feb. 19

Crisp County’s middle and high school varsity teams played games on Tuesday.

The CCMS Lady Cougars defeated Tifton’s Northeast Middle School team 6-2 on the day. Crisp County got three goals from Sydney Young, two from Emily Garcia, and one from Blakely Young.

The Crisp County Middle School boys lost to the Northeast Middle School boys of Tifton 7-1. David Cook had the only CCMS goal on a penalty kick.

The CCHS varsity teams played big region matchups against Cook County on the night.

The Crisp County varsity girls traveled to Cook County and won their game 2-1 in extra time.

Crisp was down 1-0 at the half, but a big free kick from Maddie Hughes set up the first Lady Cougar goal from Anahi Garcia.

After several attempts late in the second half Crisp came up empty and the game went to extra time.

In extra time Kirin Webb was able to break away and send a cross into the box, and Haley Kendrick delivered the game-winning goal for the Lady Cougars.

Crisp’s varsity boys played next against the Cook County boys in a decisive region matchup.

Crisp had several scoring opportunities early but failed to convert and the game was tied 0-0 at the half.

Early in the second half Cook County scored a goal to take the lead.

With less than eight minutes remaining, Davin Fryman converted on a penalty kick for Crisp to even the contest at 1-1.

A great defensive effort by Zyterrious Hudson late in the game sent the match into extra time.

In the extra time period, Crisp maintained possession of the ball and attacked earning several corner kicks. Midway through extra time on a corner kick, Eric Bohannon headed the ball, which careened off of the Cook County goalie’s hands and Jordan Fawkes kicked it into the back of the net for the game-winning goal for a 2-1 Cougar victory.

 

Wednesday, Feb. 20

Crisp County’s middle school teams played home games against Lee County East on Wednesday.

In a defensive battle, the CCMS Lady Cougars were able to outlast the Lee County team to win 2-1. Sydney Young and Blakely Young scored the two CCMS goals in the win.

In the late game, the CCMS boys beat the Lee County East boys 3-2 in a hard-fought battle.

Acevedo scored two goals early and Crisp led 2-1 at the half. Lee East tied it up at 2-2 with ten minutes left in the match. Acevedo then scored with seven minutes left to give CCMS the late lead.

Strong defense in the last few minutes helped as Crisp held off multiple attacks by Lee East to win the game. Fernando De Jesus helped out the CCMS winning effort with an assist in the contest.

 

Upcoming schedule

Crisp County High School varsity teams play at Dougherty County on Friday, February 22 starting at 5:30 p.m., then at Peach County on Tuesday, Feb. 26 starting at 5:30.

Crisp County Middle School teams will host Lee County West on Monday, February 25 starting at 4:30 p.m.
