CA baseball team adds region win over Windsor Academy Knights

Crisp Academy’s varsity baseball team brought their region record to 4-2 (5-2 overall record) on the season with a 9-1 win over the Windsor Academy Knights on Tuesday (March 19) afternoon in Cordele.

Windsor’s first batter led off the game with a double and later came around to score the contest’s first run after a one-out RBI hit. The Knights were ahead of the Wildcats 1-0 after the top of the first inning, but CA quickly took control of the game shortly after.

CA pushed across the final run of the inning when Mercer scored on a Windsor error.

Going into the fourth inning, the score was 5-1 in favor of Crisp.

Windsor managed to get the bases loaded during the top of the fourth, but Hubbard recorded three strikeouts in the frame to keep the Knights from scoring.

In the bottom half, Crisp pushed two runs across. Griffin Gravitt scored the first run after a Windsor Academy error, and Odom hit a sacrifice fly that scored Pless later on in the frame for the second score.

The fifth inning was very similar to the fourth, with Windsor scoring no runs and Crisp again adding two to their lead.

After being hit by a pitch and taking first base, Hubbard stole second and then made his way around the bases to home plate after a Windsor error. Another Windsor error came in handy for the Wildcats shortly after when Griffin Gravitt made it to home plate. This sequence led to the final score of the night, 9-1 in favor of the Wildcats.

Hubbard started the game on the mound and pitched a total of five innings for Crisp Academy, allowing only four hits and one run while striking out seven Windsor batters. Griffin Gravitt stepped in to pitch the final two innings and gave up no hits while striking out one batter.
