Crisp Academy students graduate C.H.A.M.P.S. program

Fifth and sixth graders at Crisp Academy on Thursday celebrated their graduation from C.H.A.M.P.S. (Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety), a program sponsored by the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office that teaches students important lessons about life choices relating to everything from ATV safety to bullying to drug abuse. Assistant EMS Director Jerome Outlaw gave a keynote address during the graduation ceremony encouraging students to continue to make healthy choices throughout their lives, and Sheriff Billy Hancock thanked Crisp Academy’s administration and faculty along with parents in attendance.

Deputies Chris Patterson and Scott Hawkins served as instructors for the C.H.A.M.P.S. program at Crisp Academy. They recognized 10 students for special achievement during the program:

Poster winners — Mason Purvis and Luke Worley (fifth grade), Celia Hardin and Isabella Rainey (sixth grade)

Essay winners — Charles Hurt and Hannah Harman (fifth grade), Emmanuel Rios-Cruz and Landuun Martin (sixth grade)

Star students — Ansley Simpson (fifth grade), and Izzy Stephens (sixth grade).
