Fullington defeats Community Christian and Windsor 

The Fullington Academy Lady Trojan softball team added two wins this week to bring their overall record to 9-3 so far this season.

On Tuesday, the Lady Trojans won their first region game of the season by a score of 15-0 over Community Christian Academy. Fullington then won a non-region road game at Windsor Academy on Wednesday by a final score of 5-1.

Lady Trojans 15, Community Christian 0 

Tuesday’s region contest was a run-rule shortened win for the Lady Trojans as they needed just three innings to finish the game off for the 15-0 victory.

Fullington scored seven runs in the first frame, followed by eight in the second while also holding their opponents scoreless to end the game early.

Maggie Rogers and Parker Wall each spent time pitching for Fullington and the pair combined for three no-hit innings. Rogers pitched two perfect frames and struck out four batters. Wall pitched a scoreless frame while giving up just one walk and recording two strikeouts.

Maddy McLeod and Claire Thompson led the Lady Trojan batting lineup in the contest with two hits, a run scored, and one RBI apiece. Wall had one hit, four RBIs, and two runs scored.

Final offensive stats for other Fullington players in Tuesday’s game were as follows: Marley Jones- one hit, one walk, one RBI, and one run; Ella McGalliard- two walks and one run; Lauren Blake- one walk and one run; Taylor Posey- one hit, one RBI, and one run; Lauren Rucker- one hit, one walk, one RBI, and one run; Marianna Jones- one hit and two runs; Carlee Roberts- one hit, one RBI, and one run; Lillie Grace Register- one walk; Scout Weesner- one run; Rogers- one hit, one RBI, and one run.

Lady Trojans 5, Windsor 1 

Fullington used several crucial hits during the late innings to come up with the 5-1 win over Windsor Academy (8-3 overall record) on Wednesday.

Neither team scored during the first four innings of the contest, as pitching ruled the game during the earlier frames.

The Lady Trojans later got the offense going in the top of the fifth inning, as the team tallied three runs in the frame on five hits.

Register led off the top half of the fifth with a single and Rogers moved courtesy runner Camille Tyndal up to second base with a sacrifice bunt. Marley Jones followed with a single, giving Fullington runners at the corners with one out. McGalliard then followed up with a bunt single to load the bases, and Tyndal scored on a passed ball during the subsequent at bat for the first run of the game. RBI singles from McLeod and Rucker allowed McGalliard and Marley Jones to score later in the frame giving the Lady Trojans a 3-0 lead entering the bottom of the fifth.

Windsor scored their only run of the game after a pair of hits during the bottom of the sixth, making the score 3-1 in favor of Fullington entering the seventh inning.

The Lady Trojans added a pair of insurance runs during the top of the seventh on an RBI groundout from Rucker and a run-scoring single from Roberts to bring the final score to 5-1.

McGallaird pitched all seven innings for Fullington and allowed just the one Windsor run on eight hits while striking out seven batters.

Final offensive stats for Fullington’s key contributors in the win over Windsor: McGalliard- three hits (two doubles) and two runs scored; McLeod- two hits, one RBI, and one run; Marley Jones- two hits and one run; Rucker- two hits and two RBIs; Roberts- one hit and one RBI; Register and Rogers-one hit apiece.

The pair of wins put the Lady Trojans at 9-3 on the season. Their next game is scheduled for Monday afternoon at Tiftarea Academy with first pitch set for 6 p.m.

 

CA Lady Wildcats drop region contests versus SGA and Westwood 

The Crisp Academy Lady Wildcat softball team dropped a pair of region games this week.

On Tuesday they fell at home to Southwest Georgia Academy by a final score of 16-0, and on Thursday they fell to a defeat on the road at Westwood in Camilla by a final score of 14-2.

CA is scheduled for a matchup at SGA on Tuesday for their next game. They will then play a road region game at Terrell Academy on Thursday.
