28-year-old Ashley Glenn faces vehicular homicide charge in death of 54-year-old Ethelene Lewis

FROM A CORDELE POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE:

Cordele police officers initiated an investigation into a deceased person found off of the roadway on Monday, September 9th in the 1600 block of south Joe Wright Drive. It was determined that a vehicle versus pedestrian accident had occurred and the vehicle involved left the scene. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team out of Valdosta responded and their investigators are leading the investigation into the fatal crash.

Cordele Police Chief Lewis Green identified the driver in the fatal crash as 28-year-old Ashley Glenn of Cordele, who turned herself in to police Tuesday, September 10.

Glenn was taken to the Crisp County Detention Center and charged. Arrest warrants were issued for Homicide by Vehicle in the 1st Degree (Felony) and Hit and Run; Duty of Driver to Stop At or Return to Accident (Felony). Glenn also received a citation for Violation of License Restrictions.

The victim was identified as 54-year-old Ethelene Lewis of Cordele. Lewis’ family has been notified.

Chief Green states, “This is a tragedy for our community. Ms. Lewis was a part of our community and was frequently seen walking up and down Joe Wright Drive. I send my condolences to her family.”
