CCHS boys’ cross country team wins Colquitt Invitational 

The Crisp County High School boys’ cross country team won for the second time this season earlier this week, as the team finished first out of 15 teams at the Colquitt Invitational on Tuesday afternoon in Moultrie.

“For the second time this year Thomas Rischar was the overall race winner, with a time of 18 minutes, 21 seconds,” said Crisp County Coach Michael McGinnis.

Kendrick top Lady Cougar finisher from Colquitt Invitational 

“Nine girls from the team ran the challenging 5k course in hot conditions,” said Crisp County girls’ cross country coach Cynthia Richmond. “The top finisher was Haley Kendrick in ninth place overall. The rest of the CCHS runners (Jordan Lawson, Madison Waters, Maddi Hughes, Blair Musselwhite, Jennifer Bedford, Brittney Ware, Ella Faircloth, and Sam West) came across the finish line just about one right after the other.”

CCMS results from Colquitt event 

Sawyer McGinnis won for the fourth time this season with a time of 12:28 in the middle school boys’ event at the Colquitt Invitational.

For the CCMS girls’ team, Paris Daniel was the overall fourth place finisher, and Ashleigh Bedford was right behind her in fifth place. Abigail Kendrick, Jodi Collins, McKinsey Stephens, and Kaitlyn Smith finished out the field for CCMS.

 

Crisp County cross country teams place well at Lee Invitational 

On a hot and humid day over this past weekend, the Crisp County boys’ cross country team was able to manage a top five finish out of 19 high school teams at the Lee County Invitational.

“Thomas Rischar was the top Cougar runner, placing second overall with an amazing time of 16 minutes, 50 seconds,” said Coach McGinnis.

At the end of the day, the CCHS boys’ came away with a fifth place finish overall.

The final race last Saturday featured the Crisp County Middle School boys’ team.

“The middle school team ran amazing and was able to secure a second place finish among 14 registered teams. Sawyer McGinnis was the overall race winner with an astounding time of 11 minutes, 18 seconds for the two-mile run,” said Coach McGinnis. “Wesley Granville finished 13th overall with a time of 13:30, and Cole Mitchell finished 17th with a time of 13:42.”

The Crisp County girls’ middle and high school teams also competed at the Lee County Invitational. The top CCHS finisher on the day was Ella Faircloth, while the top two for the middle school girls’ team were Paris Daniel and Ashleigh Bedford. The high school team finished 13th out of 18 participating teams, while CCMS came in 13th place out of 16.

 

Crisp results from Cook County Invitational 

Late last month, the Crisp County cross country teams competed at the Cook County Invitational in Adel on August 29.

Crisp High School boys’ results 

The Crisp County High School boys finished first overall in the team standings out of 10 attending teams. Thomas Rischar was the top overall finisher on the day with a time of 16:15. Eric Bohannon finished fourth overall at 19:22, while Zyterrious Hudson came up with a sixth-place finish at 19:55. Cole Vonier finished in seventh place overall at 20:15 and Kevin Richmond finished ninth with a time of 20:38.

Sawyer McGinnis was the overall winner of the middle school race at the Cook invitational with a time of 10:56.

Crisp girls’ top finishers from Cook Invitational 

“The girls middle and high school teams ran well, even with the high heat and blazing sun,” said Coach Cynthia Richmond. “Both teams placed second at the meet. Haley Kendrick was the eighth placed high school girl to cross the finish line. Paris Daniel was the third middle school girl to finish, and Ashleigh Bedford came in right behind her in fourth place.”
