Fullington, Crisp Academy softball results Sept. 23-26: FA Lady Trojans add four wins

Fullington softball secures region title with four-win week

The Fullington Academy Lady Trojan softball team added four wins to their overall record this week, including three region victories that helped them lock up another region championship.

On Monday the Lady Trojans defeated Windsor Academy by a final score of 3-1. Fullington played a doubleheader at Georgia Christian on Tuesday, and the Lady Trojans won both games by scores of 17-2 and 12-0. Fullington closed out the week with a home win over region opponent CCA by a score of 13-0.

Lady Trojans 3, Windsor 1

Fullington defeated Windsor Academy (13-5 record) by a final score of 3-1 in Pinehurst on Monday afternoon.

The Lady Trojans scored all three of their runs in the first inning using three hits. Ella McGalliard led off the inning with a double, with Carmen Phillips and Marley Jones each adding RBI singles later in the frame.

McGalliard got the win in the pitcher’s circle after putting in a seven-inning com­plete game in which she allowed only one unearned run on five hits and one walk while recording eight strikeouts.

Maddy McLeod, Lauren Rucker, and Mc­Galliard all finished the contest with two hits for Fullington, while Parker Wall, Jones, and Phillips each tallied one base hit.

Lady Trojans 17, Georgia Christian 2

The Lady Trojans won game one of Tuesday’s doubleheader at Georgia Christian 17-2 after just four innings.

Maggie Rogers pitched all four innings for Fullington and allowed just two unearned runs on four hits and one hit batter while striking out 10 batters.

Rogers also led the Lady Trojan batting lineup with three hits. Rucker, Lillie Grace Register, and Scout Weesner each added two hits apiece for Fullington in the contest. McGalliard, Phillips, McLeod, Claire Thompson, Wall, and Camille Tyndal all had one hit apiece.

Lady Trojans 12, Georgia Christian 0

In game two of Tuesday’s doubleheader, Fullington won 12-0 and got a four-inning perfect game from Carlee Roberts that included five strikeouts.

Rogers had three hits in the contest to bring her total to six between the doubleheader. McGalliard, Phillips, Jones, and McLeod each finished with two hits in the contest for Fullington, while Register, Wall, and Roberts each had one.

Lady Trojans 13, CCA 0

Fullington wrapped up another region title by defeating Citizens Christian Academy (10-4) 13-0 in Pinehurst on Thursday afternoon.

McGalliard pitched a four inning complete game shutout for the Lady Trojans in the contest, while allowing four hits and recording four strikeouts.

Rucker and McGalliard each finished the contest with one home run and one double to lead the Lady Trojans on the day, while Wall added a pair of hits as well. Phillips, Roberts, and McLeod all had one hit for Fullington in the game.

With the 4-0 record this week, the Lady Trojans moved to 15-4 overall on the season.

Fullington will close out the regular season with two games next week. On Monday they are scheduled for a road game at Piedmont Academy (8-3 record) starting at 4:30 p.m. The Lady Trojans will then host Southwest Georgia Academy on Thursday starting at 4:30 for their final regular season game.

 

CA softball drops region contests against SGA and Westwood

The Crisp Academy Lady Wildcat softball team played region games this week against Southwest Georgia Academy and Westwood.

CA fell to SGA by a final score of 18-7 on Tuesday afternoon in Cordele, and then lost to Westwood on Thursday afternoon by a score of 12-0 in Camilla.

CA dropped the home game versus SGA by a final score of 18-7 after five innings of play on Tuesday.

The CA Lady Cats scored all seven of their runs from the game during the bottom of the fourth inning.

Marley Sudduth finished as the leading batting lineup contributor for CA in the game with a pair of hits, one walk, and one run scored. Mia Purvis finished with the only other Wildcat hit in the contest, and she added an RBI and one run.

Final stats for other CA players from the SGA game: Abigail Brown, Erika Mauldin, and Isabel Fernandez- one walk and one run each; Sadie Mercer- one walk; Brianna Mauldin- one RBI and one run; and Grace Woodruff- one run.

CA is scheduled to play their final home game of the season against Valwood next Thursday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
