Two men are being held at the Crisp County Detention Center in connection with the Tuesday afternoon altercation that resulted in the death of 24-year-old Jacquez Alexander.

Antonio Spears, age 32 of Cordele, has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and Duwan Brown, age 20 of Cordele, has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime, according to a Cordele Police Department press release.

Although Spears and Brown are in custody, special agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and investigators with the Cordele Police Department have not closed the investigation into Alexander’s shooting death. They ask that anyone with further information about this incident contact them at 229-931-2439 (for the GBI Region 3 Office) or 229-276-2921 (Cordele Police Department).

Alexander was reportedly shot during an altercation outside Stark’s Body Shop, located at 1005 South 7th Street in Cordele, at around 4 p.m. Tuesday. A Cordele Police Department press release issued earlier this week said the shooting stemmed from an altercation between relatives.

32-year-old Cordele resident Antonio Spears was charged with murder, aggravated assault and
possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in connection with an altercation outside a South 7th St. business on Tuesday afternoon that left a local man dead.
