Wilcox deputy arrested on drug charges

From a press release issued by the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday:

“On November 20, 2019 at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sheriff Robert Rodgers arrested Wilcox County Deputy James Carlile for the following.

Conspiracy to Purchase Narcotics (Felony)

Use of a communication device to facilitate a drug transaction (Felony)

Violation of Oath of Office (Felony)

The arrest was the result of an narcotics investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office. Carlile was off duty at the time of his arrest.

The drug investigator became aware of the deputies involvement during a separate narcotic investigation.

Sheriff Rodgers stated, ‘drug use will not be tolerated by any citizens but our law enforcement officers will be held to higher standards.

The sheriff, deputies and staff should be an example to the citizens of our community and any criminal activity will not be tolerated.”
