A graveside service for Raymond Ferrell Taunton of Cordele will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2019 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. until 1:45. Ray “Ferrell”  passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019 at his residence.  Born in Macon, he was the son of the late John Raymond Taunton and Martha Dell Lee Taunton. A veteran of the United States Marines, Ray had 30 years service with the Georgia State Patrol and was an active member of Pinehurst Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and loved riding his motorcycle. Ray is survived by his children, Linda Davenport and her husband, Bill Davenport and Mike Taunton and his wife, Sheree Taunton, all of Dothan, AL and Lewis Eugene Holt of Vienna; the mother of his children, Bonnie Mizell of Dothan, AL;  a brother, Jeff Taunton of Cordele; and six grandchildren, Randall Cole of Portland, OR, Daniel Morgan, Marcus Taunton and Caleb Taunton of Dothan, AL, and Jesse Taunton and Jareth Taunton, both of Fort Riley, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Retha Dickerson Taunton; children, John Taunton, Mike Holt and Tim Holt; and two brothers, Larry Taunton and Donnie Taunton.
