Moody Cromer Adkins, 90, died Sunday, January 26, 2020 at his residence in Crisp County. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Cordele First Baptist Church with the interment following at Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, January 28, 2020 at Rainey Family Funeral Services from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Born in Crisp County he was the son of the late James Moody Adkins and Margaret Virginia Barbre Adkins. After graduating from college at ABAC, he joined the Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the military, he went back to college and received a BS in Animal Husbandry from Auburn University. He later graduated from Southwest Seminary in Texas with a Master’s degree in Religious Education. He then worked for 17 years as the program director for the Orlando Recreation Department. He also served as vice president of the Florida Amateur Athletic Association. Moody was a member of Friends Of The State Park, and an active member of the Cordele Lions Club where he had been named a Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest honor that can be given to a member by their club. He was a real estate agent for many years with Perlis Realty and was the owner of Moody C. Adkins Appraisals. Moody was a faithful member of Cordele First Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Deacons. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cricket Adkins; a son and his wife, Clint and Kathleen Adkins of Key Largo, FL; two grandchildren, Taylor C. Adkins of Key Largo, FL and Dakota S. Adkins and his wife, Shelby of Americus; a brother and his wife, Spurgeon Wayne and Carolyn Adkins of Cordele; a sister and her husband, Patricia and Harry Carter of Cordele; and a sister-in-law, Jeanie Adkins of Cordele. He was preceded in death by siblings, James Phil Adkins and Katy Singletary and her husband, Ralph. Memorials to the Building Fund of Cordele First Baptist Church, 137 Kelly Road, Cordele, GA 31015 would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
