From a notice issued Thursday morning by Rochelle Mayor Wayne McGuinty:

NOTIFICATION OF A SPILL

This letter serves as a notice to the citizens of Rochelle, Georgia that a spill occurred at the manholes in the area of Hwy 112 North and King Avenue and Ginhouse Street at Sook Road. As of the morning of Thursday, March 5th these spills included the release of raw sewage water in the approximate amount of less than 2,000 gallons onto the ground surrounding the manhole. This discharge was caused by the torrential rainfall that was received in our city. There has been no solid waste released, the spill has been limited to the seepage of liquid. As the rain continues we are monitoring the situation and will take necessary steps to mitigate the spill as soon as possible.”
