Norman Roger “Buddy” Bass, 69 of Cordele passed away peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2020.

The family will hold a private graveside service at Block House Cemetery in Jacksonville, Ga. Pastor Duran Kirksey will officiate.

Born in Sylvester to the late Cyrus L. and Thelma Louise, he had lived in Crisp County most of his life. A devout Christian, he enjoyed studying the Bible and sharing his love of God through example, scripture, and music. He was a member of Mauk Baptist Church.

At a young age Buddy discovered he was creatively blessed. A few of his many talents included being musically gifted, a natural at woodworking and drawing. He was a retired master carpenter and all around handyman who blessed countless families with his knowledge and talent for many years. Self-taught on multiple instruments, he enjoyed playing, singing, writing songs, and teaching others to play. Spending time with family and friends “making a joyful noise” was a favorite pastime. He also enjoyed drinking coffee, riding his bike, reading, gardening, horses, and fishing.

Daddy/Grandaddy/Uncle Buddy always lit up the worlds of those he loved with his fun, loving, uplifting spirit. He was known for his vivid imagination and elaborate handmade cards sent out for all occasions. He wrote and drew an immeasurable amount of letters and cards in his lifetime. He got great joy out of the smiles his “Heartfelt Cards” brought.

Survivors include his daughter, Christy (Trey) Chapman; special nephew and niece, Bo and BJ Bass; grandchildren, Brittany (Tyler) Barker; Ashlyn Dailey; Cody (Bri), Brooks, and Skyler Chapman; great-grand children, Kinsley, Collin, and Christian; special great-nephews, CL, Sam and JR Bass; sisters, Dorothy (Wayne) Heath, Katie (Roger) Pope, and Janie Harrington.
