Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Bryan Smith said that the incident involving an armed man who had barricaded himself inside an Oak Ave. residence has been resolved, although he is unable at this time to give further details. Smith said the GBI’s Region 3 office has initiated an investigation into whether there was use of force by local officers working the incident and will issue a press release sometime in the near future.

According to Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Haley Wade, the CCSO’s Special Response Team (SRT) responded to the scene at approximately 7 a.m. Sunday morning, when officers with the Cordele Police Department (CPD) reportedly called for assistance. Also on scene with the SRT and CPD were a bomb unit with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, which has provided a Bearcat armored unit for personnel protection.
