A memorial service for Douglas N. Stanford of Cordele will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2022 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The family will receive friends prior to the service Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Doug passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta at the age of 72. Doug was born in Fitzgerald to the late Wilburn Leon Stanford and Doris Allene Pullin Stanford. He was a pilot and crop duster for Coney Ag and attended Antioch Baptist Church. Doug loved life and enjoyed himself to the fullest. He had a word and a smile for everyone he met. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pool and riding his motorcycle. He loved cooking his game suppers, and sharing his kill with everyone else. His passion in life though was his family, especially his grandchildren. Doug is survived by his wife, Lyn Wells Stanford of Cordele; his children, Joni (Shane) Napier of Cordele, Jenna (Shane) Rhodes of Pitts, Cara (Brian) Molloy of Athens, Josh (Elizabeth) Silcox of Atlanta and Kael (Kristy) Silcox of Cordele; a brother, Ray Faircloth of Cordele; a sister, DeeDee Collins of Tifton; grandchildren, Miles, Jackson and Abbey Napier, Jude and Knox Rhodes, Nora and Emory Silcox, Lachlan Molloy and Stella and Londyn Silcox; a niece, Heather (Willie) Musselwhite of Vienna; his constant companion and best buddy, Bo; and Gloria Dixon, his sitter, friend and companion.
