Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

James Michael O’Neal, 65, of Cordele passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at his residence.

Mike, as he was known to everyone, was born in Cordele, the son of the late James M. O’Neal, Jr. and Betty Murphy O’Neal.

He was the owner of several businesses, but he loved deer processing the most. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed salt and fresh water fishing. After the fishing, he loved to gather everyone together and enjoy a good fish fry and fellowship time. He could also be found in the woods hunting deer and in the wide open spaces watching for quail and ducks. Mike loved baseball and watching it on TV, especially the Braves. He had a great love for hunting and collecting arrowheads and could often be found walking a field after a rain storm. He was an avid car collector, particularly Corvettes. He loved laughing and he could often be seen actually belly laughing at funny reels on his phone. He was a loyal and fierce friend and he had many that he considered more family than friend. Most precious to him though was his family, especially his grandchildren. He could always be found amongst the crowd at every ball game, play or school event supporting them.

Mike is survived by the lights of his life, his two daughters, Amanda Neisent (Matt) and Kelly Savage (Balin Webb), all of Cordele. He was the most devoted and loving father and spent the majority of his life pouring knowledge, wisdom and humor into his girls.Ā  He is also survived by who he considered his greatest accomplishment, his grandchildren, Layla, Reece, Destiny, Maxx, Mackenna and Maverick. He was blessed to also have in his life his special friend, Kellie Gilliam.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 23, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
