ASHBURN — Funeral services for Jesse Mercer “J.M.” Hobby, Jr., of Ashburn will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Mr. Hobby, 87,  passed away  Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Signature Healthcare Of Marietta.  He was born in Sylvester to the late Jesse Mercer Hobby, Sr. and Inez Land Hobby.  A graduate of the University of Georgia, he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.  Mr. Hobby was a long-time business owner in Cordele and Warner Robins and a member of Cordele First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children, two sons and their wives, Jess and Melita Hobby of Kennesaw and Jon and Lori Hobby of Tyrone and two daughters and their husbands, Gina and Steve Valentine of Beaufort, NC and Alison and Stuart McCranie of Griffin;  and seven grandsons, Jonathan Hobby, Drew Hobby, Austen Hobby, Matthew Valentine, Braxton Valentine, Spencer Valentine and Aaron Hobby.  The family requests that memorials be made to Cordele First United Methodist Church, Renovation Fund, P.O. Box 871, Cordele, GA 31010.
