Melvin Eugene Stripling

ALBANY — Melvin Eugene Stripling, Sr., 79, a native of Albany, Georgia, passed away on November 24, 2015, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
A graveside service will be held at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Cordele, GA, on Saturday, November 28th at 11:00 am.
Mr. Stripling was born on November 23, 1936, in Tifton, Georgia, to Rupert Guy and Nina Smith Stripling. After graduating from Albany High School in 1955, he attended Middle Georgia College on a baseball scholarship.  Mr. Stripling also attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1961, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Mr. Stripling taught mathematics at Lee County High school from 1962-1968 where he was named Star teacher three times.   After working as an engineer with Southern Bell for 26 years, he retired in Conyers, Georgia.  Mr. Stripling was an Elks club member and a member of the Rotary Club.  He was the President of the Albany Chapter of the Georgia Architectural and Engineering Society.
Mr. Stripling is survived by his three children: Sandy Stripling Tolar (David), Melvin Eugene Stripling, Jr. (Jenny), and Stacey Stripling Walters (Seth), and his eight grandchildren: Kaley, Clay, Alan, Beth Ann, Wes, Taylor Anne, Sutton, and Whit.
Mr. Stripling was preceded in death by his parents.
Rainey Family Funeral Services in Cordele, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
