ASHBURN – Ruth T. Newton, 80, died Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Tift Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2015 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Arabi Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until time of the service.
Mrs. Newton was born in Moultrie Ga. to the late James Albert Thomas and the late Leila Boatwright Thomas. She is preceded in death by her husband James Wilbur Newton, her brother Ray Thomas and her sister Lois Fernandez. Mrs. Newton was a member of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. Mrs. Newton enjoyed her family, gardening, fishing and baking.
She is survived by her children: Donnie W. Fennell and his wife Sylvia of Macon, Ga., Ronnie D. Fennell and his wife Theresa of Warwick, Ga., Penny Rogers and her husband Don of Ashburn, Ga.,  Terry A. Fennell and his wife Renea of Arabi, Ga.,  Albert Fennell and his wife Martha of Cordele, Ga.,  Brian Fennell and his wife Barbara of Arabi, Ga.  and a step-son Gabriel Newton of Americus, Ga. many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
