CORDELE — Voncile C. Mayo, 84, died at her residence Monday morning, January 25, 2016. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Union Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Mayo was born in Pitts, Ga. to the late Tennie Grover Crenshaw and the late Mary Mitchell Crenshaw. She is preceded in death by husband: Brice Bartow Mayo; her daughter Debbie Watts and her siblings: Cecil Crenshaw, George Crenshaw, John D. Crenshaw, Dessie Crenshaw Wright, Annie Lee Crenshaw Jett and Sara Crenshaw Bryan. She retired after 38 years as Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager for Cordele Banking Co., but returned to work part-time. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking.
She is survived by her daughter: Dianne Adkison and her husband Gordon of Cordele, Ga.; grandchildren: Mandy Posey and her husband Eric, Angie Howard and her husband Lee, Nathan Britt and his wife Angela, Tara Watts, Becky Vaughn and her husband Danny and Brenda Johns and her husband Robert.; nine great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place
