SGTC students encouraged to apply for Go Build Georgia scholarship

South Georgia Technical College students are encouraged to apply for the Go Build Georgia (GBG) High Demand Career Scholarship. Up to 30 $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to current or potential Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) students.
The scholarships will be awarded three times per year in the spring, summer, and fall. The deadlines for application are June 15 for fall, November 15 for spring, and March 15 for summer.
In order to qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must: be a citizen of the United States and a Georgia resident; be a graduating 2016 high school senior from a Georgia high school; be admitted to or enrolled in a TCSG institution at the time of funding award in one of the following program areas that prepare the student for a career identified through the Governor’s High Demand Career Initiative and that falls within one of the GBG industries (manufacturing, telecommunications, energy, logistics, or construction); plan to enroll in a TCSG institution no later than Summer 2017; demonstrate an essay (500 words or less) about how this scholarship will benefit the applicant and his/her future educational plans; include a letter of recommendation from a high school instructor, counselor, administrator, or GBG industry partner; provide a copy of the TCSG acceptance letter or class schedule; and be registered in the GBG website database.
The Go Build Georgia Foundation will select and notify the scholarship recipient. The maximum scholarship amount of $1,000 must be used within one academic year and can be applied to tuition, books, requisite fees and/or program supplies.
