Crisp Academy has been up and down in some sports but Baseball has been a main stay for many years. The Big Cats poured it on the South Georgia Academy Warriors Tuesday winning 5-3 and the coin toss to be the number 1 seed for the Playoffs.
“I’m not sure who we play next Friday, but I am very proud of the boys taking care of business and winning the region,” said Head Coach Chuck Hester.
Celebrating Senior day with their only Senior Jackson Gambrell the Cats fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning. Crisp battled through first 3 innings and jumped on the board in the 3rd with a run. In the 4th the Big Cats got hot and pushed across 3 more runs to take the lead and finally in the 5th added one more run for insurance.
William Bodrey took the mound for Crisp Academy while donning their new uniforms. The Cats wearing Black uniforms with pinstripes much like the New York Yankees also brandished a Green Ribbon sewn into the uniform in observance of Organ Donor month and in remembrance of James Bodrey former Wildcat Stalwart.
William Bodrey got the win and William Purvis got the save. Bodrey, Purvis and Aaron Titshaw all collected one hit in the game and Griffin Gravitt banged out a double and solo homerun and 3 RBI’s.
