VIENNA — Funeral services for James D. Seymour were held at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Evergreen Church. Rev. Richard Wilder, Rev. Phil Freeman and Rev. Pat Wilder officiated the services. Burial followed in the church cemetery with full military honors. SGT Parrish presented the United States flag to Mrs. Seymour assisted by SGT Lopez. The Albany Legion Post 30 also assisted in the military rights by providing the 21 gun salute and the playing of “Taps.”

Pallbearers were: Kyle Cain, Hal Penson, Mark Smith, David Smith, Justin Watson and James Vick

Jill Freeman, pianist, played before and after the service. Rev. Kenny Croft accompanied himself on the guitar as he sang “If I Leave Before You Do Please Don’t Cry.” Adam Seymour, Mr. Seymour’s son, accompanied himself on the piano as he sang “The Anchor Holds” and accompanied the congregational song “Here I Am to Worship” to close the service.

James died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. He was born in Forsyth, Ga. to the late Duel Seymour and the late Thelma Louise Roquemore Seymour.  He is a retired United States Army veteran of 20 years. Following his military service, he was a retired electronics teacher at South Georgia Tech for 20 years. He was a member of the Evergreen Church.

He is survived by his wife: Joyce Seymour of Vienna; his sons: Ricky Seymour of Lagrange, Ga., Mark Satterfield of Leesburg, Ga., Scott (Michelle) Satterfield of Leesburg, Ga. and Adam (Lori) Seymour of Spartenburg, S.C.; his daughter: Brenda (Dale) Chaffin of Eatonton, Ga.; his brothers: Charles Kenneth Seymour of Savannah and Frank Lane Gaddis of Montana; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
