James Harold Hobbs

CORDELE — Funeral services for James Harold Hobbs, 81, of Cordele will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The committal service will follow in Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Dooly County.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. James passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehab.
He was born in Vienna, Dooly County and was the son of the late M.J. and Corine Lilly Simmons Hobbs. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he was a sales rep (RET) with Lance, Inc. and an active member of Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church.
An avid fisherman, James loved and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Leger Hobbs of Cordele; his children, a daughter and her husband, Teresa and Donald Minchew of Cordele and two sons, Melvin Hobbs and his wife, Beth of Abbeville and Chris Hobbs and his fiancée, Sabrina, of Macon; two brothers, John Riley Hobbs of Edison and Roy Gene Hobbs of Kissimmee, FL; two sisters, Carolyn Adkins and Linda Faye Musselwhite, both of Cordele; eight grandchildren, Cathy Sumner, Crystal Humanes, Lee Minchew, Chris Minchew, Jamie Hobbs, Ashley Hobbs, Christina Hobbs and Alexandria Hobbs; and 12 great-grandchildren.
