CORDELE — Mary Garland Hamilton, 73, died at her residence Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dorough Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. till 6:30 p.m. at Hughes & Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hamilton was a native of Cordele and the daughter to the late Jim Ernest Ray and the late Annie Ruth Wright Ray. She worked as a bookkeeper and finance administrator for Crisp Co. Power Commission, Crisp Co. Board of Education and ConArt. She was a member of Penia Baptist Church and served at several area churches as church pianist, a Sunday school teacher and WMU Director. She also served as choir director while attending Wenona Baptist Church. Mrs. Hamilton was a member of Crisp Area Arts Alliance and Cordele Fine Arts Club.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her husband: Earl W. Hamilton of Cordele; son: David Hamilton and his wife Chepin of Marietta, Ga.; daughters: Denise Williams and her husband Gibbs and Diann Hutcheson and her husband Joe both of Cordele; brother: Danny Ray and his wife Mary of Cordele; sisters: Suzanne Elsea and her husband Allen of Asheboro, NC. and Patti Smith and her husband Danny of Cordele; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Penia Baptist Church Building Fund, 3738 Old Penia Rd, Cordele, Ga. 31015.
