CORDELE — W. D. “Billy” Dorough, 87, passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2016 at Cordelia Manor.  Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 in the chapel of Hughes and Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at the funeral home.

Billy was born in Crisp County to the late James Lawton Dorough and the late Eula Pauline Sanders Dorough.  He served his country during World War II in the United States Air Force. He was a retired Senior Vice-President for Cordele Production Credit. He was an active member of Penia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was also a member and past president of the Cordele Lions Club and a member of the American Legion.

Billy is survived by his wife: Edwina B. Dorough of Cordele; his children: Randy Musselwhite and his wife Lisa of Lexington, S. C. and Denise Hobbs and her husband Shelton of Cordele; his siblings: James H. “Jim” Dorough of Birmingham, Ala., Kermit Dorough and his wife Le of Cordele, Marjorie D. Dowdy of Cordele and Eula Faye Culverhouse of Macon; and two grandchildren: Tyler Hobbs and Garet Hobbs.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Dorough Cemetery, C/O Denise Hobbs, 548 North Dockweiler Road, Cordele, GA 31015 or to Penia Baptist Church Building Fund, 3738 Old Penia Road, Cordele, GA.
