Reba Waldrip

CORDELE — Reba Waldrip, 85, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at her residence.  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 23, 2016 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Rev. Eddie Braswell and Rev. Don Cole officiated the services. During the service “Beulah Land” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain” were played. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Honoring Mrs. Waldrip by serving as active pallbearers were Randy Morris, Ed Herrington, Carl Gamble, Bobby Mixon, Jimmy Warren and Wayne Stephens.

Mrs. Waldrip was born in Wilcox County, Ga. to Thomas Jefferson Braswell and Lena Barefoot Braswell. She was the widow of James Willis Waldrip, Jr. She is preceded in death by her children: Retha Hollingsworth and James Kenneth Waldrip; and her siblings: Audrey Jones, B. T. Braswell, Sr., Willard Braswell, Sr. and Roy Braswell.

She was a retired seamstress at Best Manufacturing. She was a member of Northern Heights Baptist Church and active in the choir as long as her health permitted. She also enjoyed being a member of the Pinecrest 39’ers. She was known for her love of reading, traveling and doing for her family and others. She was never known to speak badly against anyone.

She is survived by her daughters: Kathy (Charlie) McDowell of Cordele and Charlotte Saunders of Sylvester; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that those desiring to make memorial contributions to make them to the Northern Heights Building Fund, 1102 East 8th Ave., Cordele, GA 31015 or a favorite charity.
