March 9, 2017, proved to be a trip well worth the hard work and effort as the Crisp County High School Concert Band traveled to Cairo to take part in Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) formally known as “Festival”.

The group chose music at level 6, which is the most difficult classification of music for schools.  CCHS Band Directer Andy Bell stated that his 2nd tune was among the most difficult he has performed.  The piece required an incredible amount of musicianship and had to every individual member to concentrate at a high level throughout entire tune.

The band received Straight superiors and an “A” in every sub-category by the judges, the group also received a superior and straight “A’s” in every subcategory in the sight-Reading Room.

Tyler Foster, the student conductor received a superior for his piece.  This is a piece of music which he rehearsed from January till last Thursday, and he conducted it in front of a judge after group finished their sight-reading piece.

Overall, it was a great evening.  Mr. Bell and Mr. Bunkley have been working diligently with the  group, and they both are very proud of the progress and performance last Thursday.

The CCHS Concert Band was truly fun to watch and listen to one of the best concert bands in Georgia.
