CORDELE– Crisp County remains under a Tropical Storm Watch as winds have already been recorded at more than 35 miles per hour.

According to The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, there has been more than one inch of rain that has fallen since midnight and it is estimated at more than five inches will fall in the 48-hour period from Sunday 8 p.m. and Tuesday 8 p.m.

With the high winds, trees falling in the road and power lines coming down are expected and a high priority for Crisp County’s various agencies.

The CCSO has reported there have been more than six reports of trees falling down across roadways.

With power lines being down, areas in the city and around the county are without power. South Dorough Road and Cemetery Road’s power are two areas that have been reported out.

Currently, the Sheriff’s Office advises that residents stay off roadways unless it is a necessity and to take cover in their homes or The American Red Cross Shelter at Blackshear Trail.
