Funeral services for Miriam Dean Spikes of Cordele were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 at Pitts Baptist Church with burial following in Pitts Cemetery.
The family will received friends prior to the service Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
Miriam, 80, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Born in Greensboro, FL, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Annie Lucille Fletcher Dean.
Miriam was a homemaker and an active member of Pitts Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Training Union.
She was a breast cancer survivor. Her faith was very important to her and she demonstrated all the fruits of the spirit in her life. Being the best mama and grandmother in the world meant spending as much time with her family as possible and loving all the holidays with them. She loved to travel and enjoyed her gardening and flowers.
Miriam is survived by her four daughters, Judy Kolvick of Tucson, AZ, Mary Jane Leggett of Macon, Wanda McBryant and her husband, Darrel of Pitts and Helen Rucker and her husband, Charlie of Madisonville, LA; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Trey and Laine McBryant, Andy and Christin McBryant, Sandra Kolvick and Scott Flanagan, Sam and Monica Leggett, Sarah VerSteeg, Joey Leggett and Kathryn and Jake Smith; and 12 great-grandchildren, Emma McBryant, Lola McBryant, Bailey McBryant, Brody McBryant, Tucker VerSteeg, Luke McBryant, Bryson McBryant, Katelyn VerSteeg, John Walter VerSteeg, Tyler Smith, Blake Smith and Hunter Smith; and siblings, Raymond Dean of Panama City, FL, Rena Roberts of Utah and Catherine Mast of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Spikes, a grandson, David Kolvick and a brother, Edwin Dean.
