Nancy M. Herndon

Nancy M. Herndon, age 66, of 3194 Parham Road, Vienna, died Sunday, November 26, 2017, at her residence.
Born in Thomasville, she was the daughter of the late Luther R. Musselwhite and Thedis Rudd Musselwhite. Nancy was a 1968 honor graduate of Vienna High School. She was very active in high school, participating in 4-H, FHA, FTA,the Debate Team, Glee Club, French Club and was a member of the 1966-67 state championship basketball team. She earned her Nursing Associate Degree from Georgia Southwestern State College and graduated at the top of her class. She also served as president of the Nursing Association at Georgia Southwestern and made many public speeches on behalf of that organization including one before the Georgia State Legislature. Nancy devoted the rest of her life to helping others as a nurse. She served at Dooly Medical Center and as Director of Nursing and Administrator at Rosewood Nursing Center in Byromville. Later, she became an EMT. Nancy had a great love for helping others and always put the needs of other before her own. She also enjoyed interior decorating, quilting, crocheting, working in her rose garden and was a veracious reader.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Wendell Herndon of Vienna; her son, Matt Herndon of Vienna; her sisters, Winnie Davis (Bruce) of Pinehurst and Lee Abanathy of Vienna; her brothers, David Musselwhite (Gale) of Vienna, Billy Musselwhite of Vienna and Danny Musselwhite (Nikki)of Kathleen; her grandson, Cash Herndon.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Luther R. Musselwhite, Jr.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Wednesday, November 29 in Vienna United Methodist Church with interment in Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele.
