On December 7 at approximately 12:25 a.m. officers were dispatched to Suwanee Apartments located at 101 S. 7^th St. in reference to a possible shooting. Upon arrival they discovered two individuals had been shot. One of the individuals was deceased at the scene.

The second individual was transported to the hospital for what appeared to be a non-life threatening injury. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) in conjunction with the Cordele Police Department are currently investigating the incident as a homicide. The investigation remains in its preliminary phase.

“The agents and investigators are diligently working this incident to determine the cause. Although we investigate each death as a homicide, we have to wait and see where the facts and evidence leads us,” Chief Rodriguez said.
