CORDELE – Funeral services for James Dudley “Jim” Swinney, Sr. of Cordele will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 at Andersonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Services. Jim, 92, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Crisp Regional Hospital. He was born in Atlanta to the late Roy Romain Swinney and Linda Harris Boynton Swinney. A veteran
of the United States Army-Air Force, he was a sales rep (RET) for Bowen Chevrolet. Jim was an active member of Cordele First United Methodist Church and the Cordele Lions Club. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Victoria Beatrice Cornwell Swinney of Cordele; a son, James D. Swinney, Jr. and Connie Floyd of Orange Beach, AL; a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Jeff Couturier of Savannah; seven grandchildren, James Swinney, III, Will Swinney, Janie Peaster, Susan Burnett, Julie Bea McLeod, Megan Sue Thomas and Patrick Floyd; and 16 great-grandchildren, Luke Peaster, Libby Peaster, Ella Morrison, Raine Morrison, Will Wade,Leah Swinney, Jack Swinney, Eva Swinney, Grace Donaldson, Chance Thomas, Gracie Bea Thomas, Daniel Kilgore, Emma Ledbetter, Miles McLeod, Molly Wells McLeod and Baylor Floyd.
