Funeral services for Carolyn Tripp Brooks of Cordele will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Arabi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the funeral home. Carolyn, 79, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Brooks and a brother, William Henry Tripp. Born in Wilcox County, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Thomas Grover and Mattie Prulia Collins Tripp. She was retired from Cordele Banking Company and a long time employee of Sears. She was an active member of Wenona Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Carolyn was an avid reader and loved her family but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Gordon and Cathryn Brooks of Colbert and Lynn and Denise Brooks of Dyersburg, TN; three brothers and their wives, John and Diane Tripp of Fayetteville, Louie and Linda Tripp of Rochelle and Wayne and Gloria Tripp of Abbeville;  two sisters, Sandra Elizabeth Phillips of Canton, OH and  Mary Sue Titshaw and her husband, Jerry of Hampton, GA; four grandchildren, Saxon Alexander Brooks and Kaila Jane Brooks of Colbert and Andrew Clifford Brooks and his wife, Heather of Ripley, TN and Lesley Lauren Brooks of Tuscaloosa, AL; and two great-grandchildren, Kendall Brooks and Hadley Brooks, both of Ripley, TN.
