Registration for the first ever Cordele Senor Olympic games is currently ongoing. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 24, 2018. Participants must be 50 years of age or older to register and compete. Men and women will compete in separate divisions, and they are split up from there into separate age groups. The age groups are 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89 and 90 and above.
There are 27 different events that participants of all levels of physical fitness can compete in, all of which will be taking place at Georgia Veterans State Park, the Rec Department, Impact Sports and Fitness, Turner Park, and the tennis courts at Crisp County High School. Participants can compete in as many events as they wish, but there is a potential for timing conflicts with certain events taking place at around the same time. The first place finisher(s) in each event within each particular age group will receive a medal at the conclusion of the event, while second and third place finishers will receive a ribbon.
The entry fee for one event is $15, while each additional event the individual wishes to compete in will be $5 more for each respective event. Any entry after February 15 will be assessed a late fee of $25, with March 1 being the final day entries will be accepted.
Participants can pick up their registration packet at the Rec Department.
