Funeral services for Helen Elizabeth Nichols of Cordele will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6,2018 at Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Services. Helen, 70,  passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at her residence.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Nichols, Jr. Born in Cordele, she was the daughter of B.J. Atkins and Reba Martin Atkins. She was an account rep at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany and an active member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist church. She loved gardening and the beach but her passion was her family and being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and daughter. She is survived by her two children, a son and his wife, Brian and Beth Nichols of Cordele and a daughter and her husband, Kay and Rick Slaughter of Pelham; her mother, Reba Atkins of Cordele;  two grandsons, Ty Nichols and Andrew Slaughter; four brothers and their wives, Davis and Wynell Atkins, Billy and Reba Atkins, Bob and Sherry Atkins and Clarence Atkins; and a sister and her husband, Betty Ann and Tommy Stewart.
