CORDELE- The Crisp Academy baseball team hosted the Westwood School Wildcats for a region game on Tuesday afternoon. The CA Wildcats came back to win the game after trailing early on in the contest.

Westwood scored four runs in the top of the first inning to give Crisp an early 4-0 hole to climb out of. CA went to work at chipping away at the Westwood lead with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Aaron Titshaw led off the inning with a walk, stole second, and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Baylor Pless then drove Titshaw in with a one-out RBI single on a line drive to left field. After Pless made his way over to third on an errant pickoff attempt, Griffin Gravitt hit an RBI single to right field to drive him in. Westwood maintained the lead 4-2 at the end of the first inning.

Spencer Stubbs pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the second, and Crisp went right back to work with the bats to claim their first lead of the game. Stubbs drew a leadoff walk to open the bottom half of the second inning and Noah Mercer was put in to run for him. Mercer made his way over to third base after a couple of groundball outs, and Titshaw subsequently drew his second walk of the game to give CA runners at the corners with two outs. Titshaw swiped second base again shortly after, and Dylan Famer then tied the game with a base hit that scored the two runners.

Up next, Pless gave Crisp Academy the lead with a hustle double to shallow right field that sent Farmer in to score. Gravitt then sent Pless home with an RBI double to right center, and Blake Odom finished the second inning scoring with an RBI single to center field. CA led 7-4 entering the third inning.

The teams traded scoreless half innings, as Stubbs and the Westwood pitching staff settled in and dominated the hitters up until Crisp Academy tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth. Reid McCard got a two-out base hit, then Titshaw and Farmer both reached to load up the bases. Pless subsequently added another RBI with a bases loaded walk that sent McCard in to score. Stubbs got three groundball outs in the top of the seventh inning to finish the game off for an 8-4 Crisp Academy win.

Baylor Pless finished the game with two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Griffin Gravitt also finished with two hits, while driving in two runs and scoring one.

The Wildcats will host the Fullington Academy Trojans tomorrow afternoon, with first pitch set for 4:30.
