CORDELE — Louis James Roobin, died peacefully on the afternoon of June 28, 2018. Louis was born February 2, 1933 to Joe and Margaret Mixon Roobin. As a lifelong resident of Cordele, Georgia he was active and well-known in his community.

He faithfully served his many customers until the closing of Roobin’s Department Store in the early 1990s.
Louis was a long-time member of the Cordele Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing and had a passion for building and flying remote control model airplanes which led him to become one of the original founders of the Flint Flyers Model Airplane Club at Georgia Veterans State Park.
Louis is survived by his three children and their families: Janice Roobin Brannen (Ronnie), Patti Roobin Smith (Ricky), and Jay Roobin (Donna) along with three grandchildren: Matt Brannen, Marci Brannen, and Brooke Smith Armoney and two step-grandchildren: Justin Stokes and Haley Stokes.
