William Daniel “Billy” Gilbert Jr., 54 of Cordele, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Cordele Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with Rev. Ronnie Youngblood and Rev. James Spires officiating. Music included “It Is Well With My Soul” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Pallbearers were Joshua Daniel, Michael Daniel, Nathan Daniel, Matthew Tanner, Eli Tanner and Caiden Thomason. The committal service followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service Monday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Billy was born in Turner County, the son of the late William Daniel Gilbert, Sr. and Orba Christene Fogarty Gilbert. He was a farmer and enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews that he considered “his children” and cats. Billy is survived by a brother, Troy Ronnie “Dobie” Daniel and his wife, Melinda; two sisters, Orba Louise Croft and Christina Craig and her husband, Thomas, all of Cordele; and several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Thomas Lee Daniel and Alice Pearl Cleveland. Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
