Funeral services for Cecil Stanley Bowen of Cordele will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at Pinecrest Baptist Church with the committal service following in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Services.  Cecil, 89, passed away peacefully Monday, November 12, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Jacksonville, Georgia and was the son of the late Henry Clark Bowen and Henrietta Kinnett Bowen. He served his country as a sargent in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict era and was the owner and operator of Bowen’s Service Station for over 45 years. Cecil was a faithful and active member of Pinecrest Baptist Church since its inception. He had served with the deacon body, acted as assistant Sunday School Director and was an usher for many years. He was a charter member of the Cordele Evening Lions Club and was a past president of the club and the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow award. Cecil is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia Hall Bowen of Cordele;  three children, daughters and their husbands, Ginger and Brinson Brock of Arabi and Gay and Scott Palmer of Montevallo, AL and son, Stan Bowen, Jr. of Cordele;  five grandchildren, Kristen Brock, Brent Brock, Hunter Brock and his wife, Emily, Nathan Palmer and Katie Palmer; and several nieces and nephews.
