Jonathan Hyde Windham, Chief of Crisp County Fire and Rescue, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Cordele First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Jonathan, 50, was born in Royal Oak, MI to Jack Lawrence Windham, Sr. and Sandra Hyde Windham. He began working in Crisp County as a firefighter and an EMT. He taught CPR and was a certified Dive Master in scuba diving. Jonathan was a valued employee with Rainey Family Funeral Services for several years because of his love of people and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and an active member of Cordele First United Methodist Church. Jonathan is survived by his wife, Caron Wilkes Windham of Cordele; his parents, Jack and Sandra Windham of Cordele; two sons, Matthew Windham and Joshua Windham, and a daughter, Kayla Windham Powell, all of Cordele; two brothers, Jack Windham, Jr. of Cordele, and Harry Knox (Mike) of Quitman; a sister, Susannah Herzog (John) of Cordele; a granddaughter, Leilah Powell; and two nieces and a nephew, Kelsey Herzog, Luke Herzog, and Molly Herzog, all of Cordele. Memorial donations may be made to Cordele First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 871, Cordele, GA 31010. Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
