Area high school basketball results from the weekend

Friday, December 7
The Crisp County High School basketball teams both fell on the road against rivals Americus-Sumter on Friday night. Americus won the girls’ game 77-17, Lady Cougar scorers were: E’lacious Holt and Alexis Porter with six points each, Nikujha Smith and Peyton Bozeman with two points each, and Chelsey Harvey with one. Americus-Sumter won the boys’ contest by a final score of 84-56. KJ Williams led the Cougars in scoring with 16 points, and Tubby Spivey was next with eight. Other Cougar scorers: Nathan Willis and Willie Poole with seven points each, Ty McKenzie- six, Damion Cross, Jayren Fox, PJ Coleman, DJ Nixon, Mar Daniels, and Cortez Thomas each with two points. Crisp will be hosting Americus-Sumter for rematches on Saturday evening in Cordele starting at 6 p.m.
The Dooly County teams split home region games against Central of Talbotton on Friday night. The Lady Bobcats were defeated 58-37, while the Bobcats won 56-33. Bobcat scorers in the win were: Shamon Zanders- 16 points, Eric Ivory and Jeff Felton- eight each, Rashad Lucas- six, Zeff Felton- five, Towandi King- four, Tre Davis, Bubba Almond, Zay Johnson and Jakari Brown- two apiece, and TyCorian Sheffield- one.
Wilcox County split region home games against Telfair County on Friday night. Telfair won the girls’ game 66-52, and Wilcox took the victory in the boys’ game 65-54.
The Fullington basketball teams were both defeated by Terrell Academy on Friday night, 60-22 in the girls’ game and 78-37 in the boys’ game. The Fullington teams are set to host Sherwood tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. Fullington will then play region games at Highland Christian Academy on Friday night starting at 6 p.m.
Saturday, December 8
The Wilcox County teams both picked up region wins on Saturday night over Charlton County. The Lady Patriots won 67-48 to bring their overall record to 5-2 with a 3-1 mark in region play after Saturday. The Patriots beat Charlton 84-69 in their game to bring their record to 7-0 (4-0 in region) after Saturday. Wilcox will host another region opponent, Atkinson County, tonight in Rochelle starting with the girls’ game at 6 p.m. Following Atkinson County, the Wilcox teams are scheduled to play another region matchup at home against Clinch County on Friday night starting at 6 p.m.
Dooly County’s teams had region games at Greenville High on Saturday and came away with a split. The Lady Bobcats fell to 1-3 overall (1-2 in region play) on the young season with a 77-47 loss to Greenville. The Bobcats knocked off Greenville 55-51 in their contest for their third win. Bobcat scorers were: Rashad Lucas and Shamon Zanders- 12 points each, Zeff Felton- 10, Jeff Felton- eight, Seve Sutton- six, Tre Davis- three, Towandi King and Eric Ivory- one point each. Dooly hosts Schley County for region games tonight beginning at 6 p.m., and they are next scheduled to play home region games against Manchester High School on Friday starting at 6.
